Child Focus Center (CFC), a subsidiary of Life Focus Center, is an inclusive developmental pre-school, licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care. We are located at both the Charlestown and Chelsea campuses of Bunker Hill Community College. We offer a developmentally appropriate environment that contributes to the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.
Learning centers and motivational activities that build important foundations for future reading and math skills are both the cornerstone and the framework of our mission statement “a quality education in an urban setting”. We welcome children and families who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Recognizing that children are part of a family, we include all family members in our plans. Our center creates learning experiences that are interesting, meaningful, culturally relevant and challenging for all children. We adapt curriculum to individual children’s needs, including the needs of children with disabilities. Our professional staff guides children toward responsible, cooperative behavior, self-esteem and social competence. Our staff use problem solving activities, projects and other methods to help children foster curiosity and “learn how to learn”. We are committed to providing families with program options. CFC believes that all parents should have the opportunity to access quality early childhood programs that accommodate their work/school/personal needs. We offer flexible scheduling at our college campuses to aid parents in completing their goal of a formal education, working internships, jobs or other needs. Our curriculum is strong and current. We follow the Program Standards of the Department of Education as our curriculum base. Our students continue their education at local public, private and parochial schools when they leave Child Focus Center.
Our staff is professional in both their educational backgrounds and their methods of teaching. Continued trainings, workshops and courses are required. We actively seek out ways to help our staff grow and work effectively as members of a professional team. All staff must demonstrate high ethical standards and a deep commitment to the well being of all young children.
